DC Public Library officials have stated that their proposed library expansion project is a "matter-of-right" which explains how they developed it in a complete vacuum disconnected from community context and input. Problem is, the ill-conceived plans put books and computers over people's lives and property. More here.
Ward 2 is still celebrating the opening of the new Watha T. Daniel / Shaw Library. The new building has been winning awards for light and modern green architecture, including a vegetative roof. None of this would have been possible without the hard work of the Shaw Library Study Group and volunteer Dynamos. More here.
