DCPL is currently not maximizing the space potential of the Mount Pleasant Library

Chief Librarian Ginnie Cooper has said the already rather large historic Mount Pleasant Library needs to be expanded because there just is not enough space for her Building Program -- a program which was developed by Cooper before conducting any verifiable public library services needs analysis with Ward One residents.

The District Dynamos have concluded that there is between 3,100 to 3,600 square feet of useable space in the Mount Pleasant Library NOT being used meaningfully right now. We could use this space to help meet DCPL's building program... but then again, we feel that the public should be invited to shape the building program before any construction plans are developed.

Terrace Level (Basement)
* Wondrously almost half of this floor is not being used meaningfully -- Approximately 1,500 square feet

First Floor (main floor)
* Approximately 800 square feet not being used meaningfully

Second Floor (Children's level)
* Amazingly almost one-third of this level is not being used in any meaningful manner ~ Approximately 1,250 square feet
