Rally to Save the West End Library

STOP THE LOSS OF PUBLIC PROPERTY
SAVE THE WEST END LIBRARY

RALLY AGAINST WEST END GIVE-AWAY
confront Eastbanc!

SATURDAY, JULY 14TH 9:30 AM
WEST END LIBRARY – 24TH & L STS, NW

Last Tuesday, in a SHAMEFUL LAND GRAB, the DC Council enacted legislation to SELL the West End Public Library and the adjacent Police Station to a favored developer, Anthony Lanier of Eastbanc

Eastbanc, a partner in the Ritz Carlton project in WestEnd, is DISLIKED by many residents for its failure to deliver promised amenities like green space and retail, as well as architecture that DEADENS the street.

DC Council SLIPPED the sale of these properties past the community by using an “Emergency Resolution,” so there would be NO TIME FOR PUBLIC COMMENT and NO COMPETITIVE BIDDING.

It smacks of PAYBACK by the DC City Council in return for ❻campaign contributions❻and to silence our voices about the SALE OF PUBLIC PROPERTY.

The West End Library recently had $150,000 in upgrades, and is one of the best libraries in the District. It should not be given away. Tenleytown, Benning, Anacostia, and Shaw have been closed for more than two years with the promised rebuilding yet to begin: don’t let the West End go!

SAVE THE WEST END LIBRARY
Outraged? TAKE ACTION.
