As you can see from this photograph of Wednesday August 18, the sunroom is being dismantled for demolition.
There is only one person left who can stop the destruction of the unique historic features of the building, call back plans for the absurd 120 foot “Ramp to Baltimore,” and demand better fire protections for nearby residents soon to be boxed in by an ugly, overwhelming addition that DC won’t have the budget to keep open.
It’s not ghostbusters. Like it or not, your only choice is Mayor Adrian Fenty.
Call or write today. Do not delay! Adrian.Fenty (at) dc.gov

The drawing below shows how DCPL's plan will also completely block emergency fire access to about 1000 residents living along the Mount Pleasant corridor. Does this make any sense?

The drawing below shows an alternative plan for the renovation of the Mt. Pleasant library. This version would provide universal access through the front of the historic building, as well as improved public space and alleyway for emergency access to the rear of the library and surrounding buildings.
