On November 28, CM Harry Thomas, Chair of the Library Oversight Committee, hosted a hearing on the general oversight of DC's public library system (DCPL). President of the Board of Library Trustees John Hill and Chief Librarian Ginnie Cooper testified.
Also testifying were Robin Diener of the Library Renaissance Project and Chris Otten of DC Library Dynamos. Robin was seeking transparency from DCPL regarding the library transformation. Chris was offering help to maximize the amount of community voices involved in the library transformation.
CM Yvette Alexander also participated in this hearing. Two of the branch libraries closed in December 2004 sit in her ward, Ward 7. She said she would "bring every party to the table" to discuss the library issue (Fast forward to 1hr 18min 45sec).
