On March 28, 2007, Chief Ginnie Cooper hosted the grand opening of the interim Anacostia Library. This will be the first time since December 2004 that Anacostia residents had a place to go to read, learn, study, and grow in a positive and safe place.
The interim library was promised to be opened by January 2007. This promise was made by Ginnie Cooper at a public rally, supported by the Library Renaissance Project, to demand the immediate reopening of the Anacostia Library.
Unfortunately Anacostia residents had to wait a few more months for this promise to become a reality... but finally on March 28, 2007 it was here.
