BACKGROUND:
ANC Commissioners and Ward Eight leaders and residents are seeking to be green and save green. WHY RECYCLE?

By reusing the current Washington Highlands Library building, Ward Eight residents seek to be eco-friendly by not having all the dust from the demolition floating in the air and using lots of diesel to smash the building down, not to mention all the carbon used for new materials.

Plus, a renovation and modernization of the current building will save millions of dollars in construction costs which can be used to expand library services to other neighborhoods in the Ward or keep the current buildings open more hours.

** The Washington Highlands Library is the only full-service library in Ward 8.

** Did you know that four of five Ward Eight ANC Commissions, representing more than 50,000 Ward Eight residents, have passed unanimous resolutions looking to recycle the current library and save millions of dollars!

Chief Librarian Ginnie Cooper seemingly doesn't care what Ward Eight thinks and recently applied for a permit to demolish the building... see the timeline here.

STAND UP FOR JUSTICE AND RESPECT... DON'T LET DCPL SHHH! WARD EIGHT.
